Pin It and Do It

Trish at Love, Laughter, and a Touch of Insanity is hosting another Pin It and Do It Challenge. I've got more pins on Pinterest than I can count, so I decided to dive in! Everything below is my own photos of pins I completed along with a link to the original posts I pinned to my account and brief description.

Broccoli SoupThe trick to this recipe is getting good white
sharp cheddar. It makes the soup delicious!
Also, I'm in love with my new immersion blender.

Apple Crisp - We had tons of apples and weren't sure
what to do with all of them! The crisps froze well too.
You definitely need ice cream to serve with it!

Lattice Crust - The Huz helped me weave it. It would
have been much harder to do alone. We did an egg wash on
top to hold everything together. This You Tube video
was really helpful.

Crock Pot Beef and Broccoli - Recipe calls for rice, but we
used Udon noodles so it was a bit more like Lo Mein. A great
way to use chuck roast without having another pot roast.

Tomato, Basil, and Cheddar Soup - Probably the best
thing we made. Greek yogurt makes it healthy too!
Seriously so good!

Roasted Portobello Mushrooms - A perfect side with steak.

Mushroom Soup - Oh my gosh, we loved this one!
I would highly recommend doubling the recipe.

We made a huge batch of Potato Soup, which I've
made before, but I wanted to work on freezing
extra meals for winter. We also made 5 apple crisps to
take to other people and to freeze.

Washing your hair with baking soda and vinegar -
This one is still in the experimental phase for me.
After reading way too much about Sodium Lauryl/Laureth
Sulfate I've been trying different shampoos without that
chemical, but none seem to work well. I've been trying this
for a couple weeks and so far so good. I made a white
vinegar rinse with lavender oil.

That's it for me this month. Thanks to Trish for once again
encouraging me to actually try the things I pin!
Check out Trish's original post here.

Awesome! I will have to watch the youtube vid on lattice pie weaving. I don't have any trouble with solo - I wonder if I do it wrong!? ha. Immersion blenders are the BEST. I would love to hear updates of your hair washing goo and how you like it over time. :)

Amazing! Love the collage pictures too. And I think I'm going to have to try that Tomato Soup. I put all my green tomatoes in a sack, and BAM they are ALL red now! What to do? SOUP! :)

This all looks amazing... the pictures are wonderful, too! You should link this up to Weekend Cooking at Beth Fish Reads :)

Thanks for linking up (and thanks, JoAnn!). There is nothing better than taking a few days to cook up a storm to stock your freezer. I love having a few meals in the freezer to pull out when I'm tired. And I couldn't live without my immersion blender!

And yes, I too would love to know how the shampoo thing goes.

This post is making me so hungry! What a beautiful lattice pie- I'm yet to try one. And I'm with you on loving the immersion blender.

Wow, you've done so well! We just added an immersion blender to our bridal registry, and I'm hoping someone obliges. :) It looks like such a handy tool, and I'm really looking forward to making big pots of chili and soup this fall/winter. And I definitely need to eat something for breakfast now, haha...

bkclubcare - I'm guessing that doing the lattice weaving solo is one of those things you can learn with practice. I'll let you know how the goo goes.

annieb - It's fun. We both work, so sometimes cooking in the evening is the first time we get to see each other all day.

Suey - The tomato soup is so good! I hope you like it!

JoAnn - I linked up! Thanks for the reminder!

Beth F - I agree, it's so nice to have something already cooked on busy nights.

Nupur - Lattice pies really intimidated me for some reason. It wasn't too bad!

Meg - You will love the blender. It makes cooking soup so easy!

So many things!! I don't even know where to begin commenting. Interesting about the hair wash. And the vinegar smell doesn't stick? I've been trying to use vinegar more with my cleaning--I should try to find some lavender.

and those apple crisps! And the lattice! Though I don't think you have me sold on the broccoli soup. ;) We have the same immersion blender but haven't had a good excuse to use it yet.

Glad you had such a successful run and thank you so much for joining.

Trish - Thanks for hosting! These challenges always give me the perfect push to try new recipes. The vinegar smell really doesn't seem to stick around, especially with the lavender oil. It's been interesting so far. My hair seems to have a bit more volume too, which I wasn't expecting.
