One of my favorite Oklahoma authors -- Michael Wallis. His non fiction works about Route 66, Pretty Boy Floyd, Wilma Mankiller (late-chief of the Cherokee Indians) are outstanding!

Some of The Bean Trees takes place in Oklahoma. During an important plot point.
