Top Ten Things On My Bookish Bucket List

Tuesday, March 25, 2014

This week's Top Ten from The Broke and the Bookish asks for the Top Ten Things On My Bookish Bucket List. Most of mine are about visiting literary landmarks because that combines travel and reading, my two favorites.

1) Visit Oscar Wilde’s grave in the Père Lachaise Cemetery in Pairs
2) Attend the Jane Austen Festival in Louisville

3) Visit Prince Edward Island (Anne of Green Gables)

4) Go on a Lord of the Rings tour in New Zealand (movies based on books count!)

5) Visit Thoreau’s cabin at Walden Pond

6) Visit Jane’s Austen’s grave in Winchester, England.

7) Meet Markus Zusak, Nick Hornby, and Stephen King

8) Visit the Roald Dahl Story Centre and Museum in England

9) Visit Hemingway’s home in Key West

10) Visit Edith Wharton’s home (The Mount) in Lenox, Massachussetts

Here’s a list of 10 of my favorite bookish things I’ve done!

I want to visit all the Little House locations, Emily Dickinson's home and take the Betsy-Tacy tour in Mankato, Minnesota.

Awesome awesome awesome! And yes! We went to Oscar Wilde's grave! That cemetery is AMAZING! I wish we would have had more time to get thoroughly lost there. Loved it.

I should put on my list... meet MZ again... and again... and again... :)

My sister-in-law got married at the Hemingway House. There really are a bunch of polydactyl cats there like they say

Interesting picks! Movies based on books totally count--they're the only things that can give you the experience of actually walking through a fictional landscape. Well, and then there's 221B Baker Street...

Sandy - Heck yeah, roadtrip!

Susan - I would love to see all of those.

Suey - I'm so jealous you've already gotten to meet him!

Kat - I know! I just found out about it recently. It's definitely going to be a must for me since it's not too far away.

exploringclassics - Both would be fun trips to take kids on too!

Kate Smith - I've heard that! It would be gorgeous to get marreid in Key West.

majoringinliterature - I booked my ticket already for this fall!

Jillian - I'm hoping I can make #2 happen in the near future because that's not far from me!

Jeanne - I agree. I got to visit the Sherlock Museum at 221B Baker Street in London a few years ago!

If you make it to PEI let me know! I haven't been in years, but it is totally doable to pop over. :)

Kailana - Oh my goodness yes! If that trip happens, you and I will definitely have to meet up.
