Top Ten Characters I’d Like to Switch Places with for 24 Hours

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

This week's Top Ten from The Broke and the Bookish asks for the Top Ten Characters I’d Like To Switch Places With For 24 Hours.

1) Daniel Sempere, “The Shadow of the Wind” – I want to explore the Cemetery of Forgotten Books so bad I can taste it!

2) Claudia, “From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler”
– Who wouldn’t want to spend the night in the MET.

3) Cassandra, “I Capture the Castle”
– I’d love to spend one day in that drafty old castle, drinking tea and day dreaming.

4) Lizzy Darcy, “Pride and Prejudice”
– I want to switch after they’re married! I could spend the day wandering around Permberley and enjoying the company of the lovely Mr. Darcy.

5) Watson, Sherlock Holmes Books
– I don’t think I would want to be Sherlock, because I have a feeling it would make my brain explode, but I would love to see him at work.

6) Trillian, “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
– What girl wouldn’t want to be whisked off on adventures around the galaxy?

7) Hemingway, “A Moveable Feast”
– Yes, I know this book is nonfiction and Hemingway is a real person, but lets forget that just for a second. I would love to spend a day in Paris during the 1920s, hanging out with Gertrude Stein and Fitzgerald and Pound, drinking and talking about life and what we’re all writing.

8) Jeeves, Jeeves and Wooster Books
– P.G. Wodehouse’s infamous valet knows just about everything. It would be so much fun to be in his shoes for a day.

9) Arwen, “Lord of the Rings”
– She lived in Rivendell and married Aragorn, yes please.

10) Hermione Granger, “Harry Potter”
– What can I say, she’s awesome and I’d love to explore Hogwarts!

Wow. I don't even need to make my own list, because it would be so similar to yours. Especially the second half!!!

1, 4, 9 and 10 would totally be on my list. (And yes Arwen, but only if Aragorn is Viggo Mortensen.) The one I would add to the list is Jake Epping, from 11/22/63, who is able to travel back to the late 50's through a wormhole. I don't think I'd want to take on the task of preventing JFK's assassination, but I'd love to meander around back then.

I almost put A Moveable Feast on my list. I would love to be part of that world for 24 hours.

With I Capture the Castle I wish I could insert myself into the book and be there alongside Cassandra so I could become her new BFF :P Love her so much.

Great list! I have been meaning to read A Moveable Feast for a long time. I think I would really like it. A day in Paris in the 1920s with all of those brilliant people would be amazing!

Jeanne - You know what they say, great minds!

Sandy - Obviously Viggo must be part of the deal. I've got 11/22/63 on my list and I can't wait to read it.

LBC - I know it's cheating, but I couldn't help myself.

Ana - That would be divine!

Anne - I can't even imagine how wonderful those conversations would be!

Camilla P. - Wouldn't Trillian be a fun one!

I see three books I still need to read! But I am enjoying Harry Potter - just finished book 3.

The Mixed Up Files! I had forgotten all about that one, but it was one of my favorites when I was younger. I definitely second that one.

Care - I'm so excited you're reading the HP books! They get so much better after the first two, enjoy!

Nikki Steele - I haven't read it in years, but I read it so many times growing up that the story is cemented in my mind.

I definitely agree with Hermione from Harry Potter. It would be so amazing to be able to be in Hogwarts in real life.

Thanks for sharing! :)

Definitely Daniel from Shadow of the Wind. That would be awesome!

Watson and Trillian - most definitely! I always thought of Trillian as a sort of Doctor Who companion (are you a fan?).

Melissa, being Trillian would be EXTRA fun! :D I mean, going around through space with crazy mates, on a crazy ship... Simply awesome :)

Krystianna - I can't wait to visit Harry Potter World at some point. That's the next best thing.

Ryan - I could wander in the Cemetery of Forgotten Books for days.

Alex - She absolutely is! And yes, I'm a huge Doctor Who fan.

Arwen is a great choice … and I cannot go into a museum bathrooom without thinking of trying to be Claudia!

Jenners - Yes! We should all have the chance to spend one night in a museum.
