Very cool. What is that portion of red brick there on the circular tower? Also, I googled Blarney Castle and got distracted by pictures of people kissing the Blarney Stone. Why do you have to hang upside down to do that?
Sandy - Agreed, there's just nothing like it in America.
Charley - It's actually red moss, it was beautiful. You have to hang upside down because it's the only way to reach the stone. You hang upside down and people have to hang on to you as you kiss it because you can see straight down to the ground hundreds of feet below you. It's kind of terrifying.
You can see the spot where you hang upside down in the picture. On the main part of the castle where that little section juts away from the rest of the wall. You're hanging upside down right there!
She - Yes! The day after we all kissed the stone everyone told us the rumors about teens going to pee on it at night. I don't know if it's true or not, but I'm still glad I did it.
Funny story- my husband hit his head as he came up after kissing the stone, was that good luck or not, haha, at least we have the story, right? We did have a good trip though.

Oh, I love castles! We always seek them out when we are in Europe. Really makes those historical fiction novels come alive!

Great photo! Did you get everyone telling you that they pee on the stone? I really hope it was bleach in those spray bottles they had up there.

Beautiful picture. I've always dreamed about going to Ireland. :)
Nice!
I spent 13 years in UK and never visited Ireland! We plan to though....
BookQuoter - Ouch! At least he didn't fall.
Darlyn - You'll go one day and you'll love it!
Monica - Wow, I hope you get a chance to go at some point. It's so such a beautiful country.
