Dewey’s 24-Hour Read-a-thon

Friday, April 8, 2011

Tomorrow I'm participating in Dewey's Read-a-Thon. This is the first read-a-thon I've ever done, so I'm pretty excited. The goal is to read as much as you can in one 24 hour period.

I've cleared my schedule and despite a few play dates with my puppy Ollie, I should be able to get a lot of reading done. I have a loose list of books I'd like to get to, but I don't want to list them and change my mind.

I'll post on my progress throughout the day and would love any encouragement you guys want to give. I hope some of you join in! There's nothing like a great excuse to spend a whole day reading.

Yay! I'll be reading "with" you. I did this for the first time last spring, and one big thing I learned was STAY AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER. I think I blogged more than I read. Then I felt unproductive, which I was, because I didn't even make a dent in my books! I'm going to take a break or two, but the kids are hanging with daddy and I'm holing myself up in my mom's house.

Have fun! I've never participated in one. I don't think I'll ever be able to because it's always the week before the tax deadline April and the week before the extension deadline in October.

I'll definitely try to check my google reader during my work breaks to cheer you on.

Yay! I'm glad you're joining in on the fun! This is my third one and besides reading, I am hosting a mini-challenge and hosting the last four hours! Craziness!

But it is a great time. Make sure to check for mini-challenges and enter some (you can win some great things) as well as giving yourself a break from reading!

Oh my GOSH, this is the first time I've heard of a read-a-thon when I don't have any plans! I think I'm going to do it too!

Sandy - Thanks for the tips. someone suggested having a set template (Pages read, books read, etc.) and just updating it and posting occasionally. I think that seems like a good way to do it. Otherwise I'll get caught up in writing a new post each time.

Kristi - Oh man, what horrible timing.

Allie - You're braver than I am. If I'm still awake in the final 4 hours I will visit your blog! I'll also have to try to pay attention to the mini-challenges, that seems like a good way to boost spirits.

Brenna - So glad you're joining in!
