Exactly five year years ago I decided to take part in The Classics Club. At the time it
was a small group that wanted to make an effort to read more classics. That was
right up my alley and so I made a list of 100 books I wanted to read over the
course of the next five years.
Today
is my deadline and just last week I posted my final review. It has been such
fun completing this challenge. Somewhere along the way the club grew to a huge
community. I became one of the co-moderators that helped manage and run the
website.
I
have absolutely loved seeing all the new members and new reviews that are
constantly pouring in. We’ve had Classic Club spins, where a random number
choses your next book for you. We’ve had meme questions that spark wonderful conversation.
All-in-all it has been a delight. I plan
to continue to stay involved with the website, and obviously I’ll still be
reading classics. I’m proud that I managed to complete my list by my deadline.
Any
other Classics Club members out there getting close to finishing your lists?
Here's my complete list with links to all my reviews. At the bottom of the page there's also a list of classics I read and reviewed before beginning the challenge.

I have also finished my challenge last week.
Kudos to you who can read AND review every book on the list.
I have been busy the last year and early this year, so I just managed to read in time, but not the reviews.
Anyway...congrats for completing it, Melissa. Do you plan to do 2nd round? I do. But this time I limited it to 60 books only, adjusting it with my current reading pace.
Fanda - Congratulations!!! That's so exciting. I hadn't really thought about doing a second round, but I know I'll keep reading classics, so maybe I will.
Congrats Melissa - that is an achievement especially since you had s baby in the middle of it too. Reading classics is hard to do at 4am !
Is there a Classics list 2 in the making?
Congratulations! That's awesome that you were able to finish your list of 100 on time. My Classics Club list is only 50 (well, technically 51) books long. I'm about 2/3 of the way through with about 18 months to go. I hope I can make it!
Brona - I think maybe I will make a second list. I had so much fun with the first!
Julie - You can definitely do it! Only about 17 more to go!!!
Oh wow! I ditched my list and made a different one of all Virago titles. I need to just combine my original list the the Virago one and see where I'm at.
Amanda - You should! I'm such a list person. There's something so satisfying about completing them.
That's amazing.
I just joined, :), so no near completion, ha ha ha.
I like your rating system
Silvia - Welcome to the challenge! I love that it's a continual one and people are constantly joining!
Congratulations, Melissa! I can't believe it's been FIVE YEARS. MAKE A SECOND LIST. (As if I could. I just like knowing what others are doing.) :-)
Jillian - I'm so glad you decided to start this five years ago! I can't believe how fast the time went. I think I'm definitely going to need a second list.
I can't WAIT to see the new list. x
YAY! My deadline is this December and I will have completed reading over 50 classics (but NOT the original 50 from my list.) I can't seem to find if that is acceptable? What do you think? Happy Thanksgiving!
