Book List: 3 Books That Make Me Long for Warmer Weather

Tuesday, February 16, 2010

This weeks list, from Lost in Books, is 3 Books That Make Me Long for Warmer Weather.

1) Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil - set in sultry Savannah, this nonfiction books makes me long for hot Georgian days and nights.

2) On the Road - Kerouac's wanderings with his fellow Beat generation friends always make me want to take a cross-country road trip.

3) Seedfolks - This little novella is all about a small community rising above their differences to make something wonderful together. It always makes me want to get up to my elbows in dirt in a garden, which you can't do when there's 2 feet of snow on the ground.

Good list -- especially "On The Road." Hadn't thought of that one when I made my own list! I love travel narratives in general.

Nice choices. I have read Kerouac's book and liked it a lot. I've always meant to read Berendt, I have a copy of City Of Falling Angels in my library. And thank you for visiting me at Fresh Ink Books.

Sandra- I read City of Falling Angels on a train ride from Paris to Venice, then I spent a week in the city. I loved the book, but it might have had more to do with my excitment about the trip. Midnight is one of my favorites though, you should definitely pick it up if you get a chance.

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and On the Road are 2 of my favorite books! I guess I should check out your third choice now.

Reading MitGoGAE right now, and enjoying it so. You up for a trip to Savannah? :)

Absolutely. I went a few years ago and the city is just beautiful. I've always wanted to go back and spend more time there.
