Germinal was a favorite in my early 20s. I think it would be too raw for me now.

For me, The Painted Veil is one of those rare examples of a movie being better than the book. Have you seen it?

This looks like such a fun challenge! I especially love the categories. Don Quixote, huh? I'll look forward to what you think.

I would love to do this challenge, but I know as soon as I attempt to commit to reading certain classics it won't happen...

Don Quixote! That is so scary! I tried that once, and, well...it wasn't pretty. Good luck to you with that!

And yay Dumas!

Steinbeck and Zola and Maugham, some of my favorites! I love The Painted Veil. I liked both the movie and the book. Thanks for signing up!

Strong Poison was my favourite Sayers before I discovered the absolute gem that is Gaudy Night. Hope you enjoy!
I haven't read any of the others, though I did see the adaptation of The Painted Veil which I rather liked. Maugham is an intriguing author, I'd really like to give him a go too. Have you read any of his other books and if so, what do you recommend I start with?

Alex - I've seen the Edward Norton version and really liked it. I've been curious about the book ever since.

Trish - I'm kind of super scared to tackle the Don!

Kailana - My brain works in the opposite way. I'm such a list maker. Putting some of these scary books on my list means I will absolutely make them a priority.

Heather - The Don is so intimidating!

Karen K - Thanks for hosting! I'm so glad you liked The Painted Veil. It's been on my TBR for so long!

Ruby - I've read 2 other books in the series (Whose Body and Nine Tailors) but none with Harriet. I've heard the books with her in them are much better than the others.

bkclubcare - I only do 2 challenges a year. There are so many out there and it gets overwhelming!
