R.I.P. Challenge VIII

Monday, September 2, 2013

I look forward to this challenge each fall. I've participated for the last two years and it's such fun. Just pick any book that's a falls into one of the following categories:  Mystery/Suspense/Thriller/Dark Fantasy/Gothic/Horror/Supernatural

Carl at Stainless Steel Droppings is hosting the challenge for the eighth year, so check out his site if you want to join in. There are lots of levels of participation, so check it out!

I'm going to do the following challenge...

Peril the First: Read four books, any length, that you feel fit (my very broad definitions) of R.I.P. literature.

I'm going to try and read at least 4 of the following books...

1) The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins
2) Faithful Place by Tana French
3) The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith
4) The Night Watch by Sarah Waters
5) The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton
6) Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn

This is my first time joining in, and I'm enjoying seeing all the reading lists - and revising mine!

THAT is an amazing list! Although I will tell you that Night Watch is not scary. It is more about the war and relationships...it is good though.

Great choices for RIP VIII - hope you like Cuckoos Calling. I thought it was pretty good.

The Night Watch is excellent, as is any Sarah Waters. The Little Stranger (same author) is so creepy I couldn't even finish it. Utterly different for her but really atmospheric. Good luck completing the challenge! I can see the book was on your list last year too, I hope you'll be more successful this time, it's really worth reading.

The Moonstone is my favorite Collins to date. Hope you love it, too!

Lisa - That's awesome! I really enjoy this challenge.

Sandy - I guess I just saw Waters and assumed it would be scary!

Diane - I've been waiting for a library copy for so long now. I'm so excited to start it!

Ruby Scarlett- The Little Stranger was my first Waters, so creepy! It was on my list last year and I just ran out of time for it. Hopefully I'll get to it this time.

JoAnn - I've only read The Woman in White and I loved that one!

WILKIE!!!! He is so my biggest Victorian crush. The Moonstone was pretty great, even if it didn't have Count Fosco, the greatest villian ever created, in it.

Great list! I see a couple I need to read on there too!

Heather - Oh my gosh Count Fosco is so fantastic!
