I always look forward to this challenge and find myself saving books to read during these months. This year I have a great mix of books, including classics, nonfiction, short stories, and more.
I'll also be co-hosting a readalong with Trish at Love, Laughter, and a Touch of Insanity and Care at Care's Online Book Club! We will be tackling Uncle Stevie's classic Salem's Lot and getting scared silly together. We'll be reading it in October and I'll post more details when it gets closer, but I hope you'll join us if you've been wanting to read that one.
Here's my list of potential R.I.P. books:
- Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier
- Salem's Lot by Stephen King
- The Edgar Allan Poe Audio Collection
- The Stranger Beside Me by Ann Rule
- Dark Worlds of H.P. Lovecraft (Vol. 1) by H.P. Lovecraft
- The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
- The Quick by Lauren Owen (the R.I.P. group read this year)
If you need any ideas for books to read, here's a few of my previous R.I.P. challenge posts:

R.I.P. Challenge VIII

I love this challenge -- have fun.
I'm joining this challenge as well. Had The Little Stranger and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children waiting for a few months now.
Salem's Lot? Goodness!! October will be too hard for me, with RIP and Dewey's going on, but good luck! I'm kind of glad I have an excuse. LOL
Diane - I will!
Alex - Fun choices! Both are perfect for R.I.P.
Heather - I'm more than a little bit scared :)
I'm looking forward to this one myself - and to reading about your adventures with it. :-)
Ah, another expert RIP Veteran! This is my first time. :)
Salem's Lot is one of Jesse's favorites! I thought it was cool but kind of cheesy....but that's Stephen King! Lol. King's on my list, too - finally going to read the second title in the Dark Towers series! And, gosh, I loved Rebecca and I LOVE POE! His tales and poems on audio make for a great experience, too, especially with the right narrator.
I haven't read much Lovecraft, but I thought At the Mountains of Madness was pretty rad - is that in the "Dark Worlds" collection? I'm not sure....it might be a stand alone novella.
bibliophilica - Oh good! Can't wait to see what you read.
Roof Beam Reader - Welcome to RIP! It's a fun one. I adore Rebecca and it was high time for a reread. Poe is my favorite as well. He's actually on the list because I got an audio version with Vincent Price and was excited to read it. I'm new to Lovecraft, but I always hear him discussed in the same breath with Poe, so I needed to check him out.
Can't wait for the RAL. I think I have Salem's Lot on my Bookshelf!
Mari Reads - Yay! So glad you're joining us!
