Rereading Harry Potter

Friday, September 6, 2013

In anticipation of my upcoming trip to Harry Potter World I just reread all 4,100 pages of the Harry Potter books with a friend of mine. Every time I reread this series I'm reminded of how wonderful these books are. I've already reviewed them on the blog (see the links to all the reviews below), but I just wanted to say that each reread reveals new layers of depth in the stories. The characters are so well-developed and complex, the epic plot is so perfectly planned out, the lessons taught are so important. I can't imagine a time when I will ever grow tired of these books.

There are books that get under our skin and become part of the fabric of who we are. For me these are some of those books. I will continue to return to them whenever I need comfort or when I'm in a reading slump. They have never let me down.

You are going to love Harry Potter World, especially the queue through the castle. And you will have to come back because they are building MORE, over in the other Universal Park, where Jaws used to be. I don't know when that will be finished but they certainly know what they are doing because it was chaos in this town for the first two years that attraction came out. And I do love those books...doesn't matter how many times I read them.

Every time I see someone reread the Potters I want to do the same thing so badly! My last reread was summer of 2011 and I was just so freakin' enchanted all over again.

I've never read the whole series straight through. When a new book was coming out, I'd re-read the series up to that point, but I didn't do that with the last three, I just ran out of time.

I hope you have a great trip.

And another reminder that I need to find book 6 so I can continue my FIRST TIME read! I have book 7 waiting but I can't seem to find anyone to loan me #6. I really should just reserve at the library - I don't want to read the kindle version. I totally forgot that I wanted to buy the UK audio version when I was there. #forehead-slap.

I cannot wait to reread these books when I have proper time to really focus on them. I also tried to start reading aloud with my son, but he's still a little too young to pay complete attention. Very soon though!

Can't believe you finally went to the park :) I remember when you were first talking about. It's nice to follow you on Instagram and see your photos. I would love to go back there!

I can't wait for my own trip to the HP World-it's coming up in January (and will be combined with WDW of course). I don't know if I'll have time to reread all the books but I'll definitely try to get at least one more read.

Sandy - It was just as incredible as I imagined it would be!

Brooke - I feel the same way!

Lisa - You should re-read them all sometime. It's such a treat.

bkclubcare - Someone get this woman the 6th book immediately!!!

Sarah - I don't have kids and I'm always curious what the right age to start these books would be. I read them when I was in college mainly and so I have no idea.

Jillian - I know, I asked you about it so long ago, but I was just excited to plan it! Your tips were so helpful!

Bookworm1858 - Oh my gosh, you are going to love it!

I keep meaning to reread these because they were so good. Please share some pics from your trip. I would love to go some day!
I did just finished Tales of Beedle the Bard for the first time which was good but didn't give me that special Harry Potter feeling.

Captain Nick Sparrow - I'm definitely sharing photos! The post will go up Nov. 13th! I agree about Tales, I reread that one too, but it's a different kind of book.
