This week's Top Ten from The Broke and the Bookish asks for the Top Ten Best Movie Adaptations. There are some awful ones out there, but these are all examples of adaptations that were well done.

1) Lord of the Rings

2) V for Vendetta

3) Pride and Prejudice (1995)

4) Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

5) High Fidelity

6) To Kill a Mockingbird

7) The Hunger Games

8) The Help

9) The Princess Bride

10) Little Women (1994)

BONUS: Life of Pi, I saw this after making my list, but it was so excellent I just had to add it in.

Am I the only person who hasn't seen the To Kill A Mockingbird movie? I loved the book, but never watched the movie.

I added The Help to my nervous to watch list. It's good to know so many people enjoyed it!

but NOT Under the Dome! (I have decided not to watch it, I'm really not much of a TV watcher)

Loni - Oh my gosh, go watch it immediately! Gregory Peck is just incredible.

chrissireads - I loved it!

bkclubcare - I watched the pilot and I was really disappointed with some of the things they changed. I'm not sure I will keep watching.

The Help is the best movie adaptation I've seen in a long time, and the 1995 version of Pride and Prejudice is a favorite of mine, too. I expected to see Gone With the Wind on your list ;-)

Oh, yes, High Fidelity!! Another great one that I forgot about! I didn't mind any of the changes/tweaks they made, like moving it to America, because it all just worked so well and John Cusack was great and like with Fight Club, the movie and the book become separate because you get something different from each. Great examples of good adaptation in film!

I used to love Princess Bride when I was a child, I haven't actually read the book though :( And I cannot believe I forgot The Hunger Games and Little Women.

I've seen trailers of Life of Pi and looks very good, how did you find it?

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas was such an amazing adaptation and terribly close to the book.

I also really loved Cloud Atlas! I thought the movie did a better job than the book even. Life of Pi was also stupendous.

Great list! I actually loved the Little Women movie more than the book.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower was better as a movie than as a book!

JoAnn - **Smacks Forehead** How could I forget Gone with the Wind!!!

Shannon - Cusack was just perfect for that role. I forgot about Fight Club! That's a great one!

Angelica Joy - I thought Life of Pi was just gorgeous. The movie was stunning and stayed pretty close to the book.

Nikki - Yes, I was really happy with the Cloud Atlas adaptation! Some of the parts I struggled with in the book worked so well in the film!

Brooke - I love them both, especially that 1994 version.

Jeanne - Perks of Being a Wallflower was so fantastic!
