This week's Top Ten from The Broke and the Bookish asks for my Top Ten Favorite Books I Read Before I Was A Blogger. I started blogging in January of 2010, so I had a lot of favorite books under my belt before then. Actually, most of them are still favorite books!
1) The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
2) Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt
3) The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
4) The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling
5) To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
6) The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
7) Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
8) Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card
9) A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway
10) Persuasion by Jane Austen
A few bonus ones that could have made the list: A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, The History of Love, The Time Traveler's Wife, Anne of Green Gables, Nine Stories, Empire Falls, Watchmen, Gone with the Wind, Travels With Charley and 84, Charing Cross Road

Nice list, I've always wondered about Ender's Game. Not quite sure I would know what is going on....
Fantastic list. This is the 2nd time today I've seen someone mention Midnight in the Garden. I haven't read it but I have the feeling that I really should get to it!
I listened to Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil before I blogged, and I've been thinking I need to re-listen so I can review it because it was so incredible!! I also read the Harry Potter books prior as well. Good stuff! I've been thinking about reading Ender's Game, not only for the upcoming movie but also because my daughter had to read it for her English class.
So many here that I read and loved... probably should have added Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil to my list, too.
The Book Thief and Ender’s Game are two of my favourite books I've read since I've been a blogger!
Tea norman - It's really easy to understand. I was probably 16 when I read it for the first time.
Jennifer - You should read it! Such great descriptions of small town life.
Sandy - I read it in high school and just loved it. You should totally read Ender's Game. It's incredible!
JoAnn - That was the book that made me realize nonfiction could be so wonderful.
Rob - I'm always so excited when people discover those two books and love them!
I listed some of these same books today! And a few of them almost made the list!
I love your list! I've read and liked all of them, except A Moveable Feast and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, both of which are on my TBR. Thanks for sharing!
Great list! I've read and loved several of these books (Nine Stories, Harry Potter, Jane Eyre, To Kill A Mockingbird, Persuasion, Anne of Green Gables). I have A Tree Grows in Brooklyn on my Kindle, but I haven't read it yet. I don't know how I missed that one in all my years as a reader.
Suey - We had similar taste even in our pre-blogging years!
Rachel - Both are great nonfiction books!
misfortuneofknowing - A Tree Growing in Brooklyn is a must for anyone who grew up loving books!
I'm trying to talk Evan into reading To Kill a Mockingbird aloud with me. I know I loved it at his age, but that's the last time I read it.
Many of these are ones I didn't read until I was a blogger! I've been mentally creating my list as I've been reading these posts and totally forgot about Time Traveler's Wife. I loved that book! Cold Mountain, The Bone People, and Midnight's Children are probably my top three.
Ali - I am so bad at guessing what books are age appropriate for kids. I know it's different with each kid, but it's still tricky.
Trish - Time Traveler's Wife, I love that book! I can't believe I left it off my list!
