My parents' 1981 wedding is being featured on a site I love. It's especially fitting, to me, that it was run just before mother's day. I always find myself thinking so much about my Mom around this time. Happy Mother's Day (on Sunday) to all you moms out there. If you have a mom you can talk to this weekend, give her some extra love and hugs.
If you're interested, here it is at A Practical Wedding.

When I first looked at this, I thought, wait, I can't be old enough to be Avid Reader's mother...but I got married in 1982. I was right out of college then, and I see your parents were older.
I have not been getting along well with my mother, so your post was timely in that way, as a reminder.
Melissa, that was a beautiful homage and a great post :,) I love it how concentrated they both look cutting the cake.
That is so sweet! It also makes me feel old as I was in high school when they were getting married. I love all that '80's hair! What a great post and a great tribute.
I looks like a lovely wedding. I prefer the smaller, intimate weddings to the big stuffy ones. Thanks for sharing this beautiful tribute.
Thanks guys. I love small, intimate weddings too.
Jeanne - I hope you give her a call this weekend. Family is tough, but worth the struggle.
I love your parents' wedding story. It is so sweet. I had a pretty simple wedding too and was only engaged for two months. It is really about each other and not about the fancy festivities. They look so in love and happy together.
I just read the post and left you a comment there. Such a bittersweet post in many ways. Hugs to you on this most difficult of holidays for those of us who are missing their mothers.
That was such a beautiful tribute to your parents. Love all the pictures and their story. Twenty years of a blissful marriage is a gift and an everlasting happy memory for you.
This was beautiful; thanks for sharing.
Thank you guys so much. I know I was incredibly lucky to have my mom for the time I did.
Beautiful!!
