El Ateneo Bookstore

Thursday, May 5, 2011

This old theatre in Argentina was turned into a bookstore.
It's called El Ateneo and is located in downtown Buenos Aires.

Can you imagine getting to shop here? Heaven.

Photos and more info found here.

Sorry, of course I left the link out. I believe the store is still open and running. I've added the link back in, but you can find even more info here...

That is amazing. And why do we have to go THERE for such a bookstore? Can't we come up with something as cool stateside?

I do wish we had a place like this in the states. I could spend days there!

This reminds me of the first time I ever saw the old Scribner's, IN NYC - magic. I bought my first copy of A Little Princess there, and that was magic, too.

Mumsy - I've never heard of Scribner's, but I just looked it up. I'm so sad that it's a Sephora now and I was never able to go there. It looks amazing.

Hi! I am an avid reader too. I came across your blog at Wordless Wednesday. I absolutely love this bookstore! Now, I want to move there. The town I live in now is so small, it does not even have a bookstore. The nearest one is about 15 miles away in the next city. And its about 20 miles to the nearest Barnes and Noble.

Kwee Lewis - That's awful! There's nothing better than just wandering around a bookstore for an afternoon.
