I very specifically didn't talk about it in my review, because I didn't want to ruin it for anyone. I was so glad I went into it not knowing what was going to happen and that made it even better.

TBM - Ethan is a dark one too, but this one is so much deeper.

Jillian - It's a must for 2012, I think you'll love it.

Alex - "the feeling of walls closing in" I know exactly what you mean. I still loved it, but it does make you feel that way.

Natalie - I was surprised by how easy to read it was. I was expecting a much stiffer tone, but it was just lovely.
I know I'll re-read it.

Nymeth - It's just beautiful.Melissa (Avid Reader)https://www.blogger.com/profile/02119628715475021774noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8481406859587493585.post-38057032982359788942011-12-05T15:28:55.035-05:002011-12-05T15:28:55.035-05:00I absolutely need to make time for this next year....I absolutely need to make time for this next year. I loved everything about it, and Wharton's writing style is extremely easy to read. It's not like the "typical" stuffy classics that are a bit convoluted and abstract (or just too dang wordy). Wharton writes wonderfully and her books are timeless. So glad you enjoyed this as well!Natalie~Coffee and a Book Chickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12369504951819517390noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8481406859587493585.post-70561999977831875782011-12-05T09:23:33.338-05:002011-12-05T09:23:33.338-05:00Read Age of Innocence, but only saw House of Mirth...Read Age of Innocence, but only saw House of Mirth on TV. There were moments when she longed blindly for anything different, anything strange, remote and untried; but the utmost reach of her imagination did not go beyond picturing her usual life in a new setting.”

That is one of my favorite quotes from the novel.

I am SO GLAD that you liked this! It makes me happy to know that you saw a lot of the same beauty that I did. I think Wharton does such a superb job of portraying Lily as being trapped in the middle of a lot of outside pressures.
