I was young and depressed trying to adjust to taking care of two small kids, and I think it was too heavy or something. Around the same time I read The Sound and the Fury. What on earth was I thinking?Shelleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18408471966661831444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8481406859587493585.post-3994440705681545132011-11-14T15:07:12.155-05:002011-11-14T15:07:12.155-05:00Allie - I think I need to re-read Gatsby soon, but...Allie - I think I need to re-read Gatsby soon, but this one feels different. It's much more raw, less polished. I think the structure and story is better in Gatsby, but this one is somehow easier to connect to.

Kat - I completely agree. I think its partially due to the fact that I find Fitzgerald and his wife Zelda fascinating and that this book seemed to be his most autobiographical.Kat @ NoPageLeftBehindhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09255578898082061820noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8481406859587493585.post-76675483624883302962011-11-10T18:21:49.512-05:002011-11-10T18:21:49.512-05:00The only Fitzgerald novel I've read is Gatsby,...The only Fitzgerald novel I've read is Gatsby, but this one is on my shelf and my list. It really bugs me that the order of the book is changed in different versions. I didn't know that when I read it.

BookQuoter - I can see that. It's a sad one and at times it feels like we are kept at arms length, but I loved the rawness of the characters. Anyway, this is one author I need to experience as an adult. I would love to read this one, but I have a problem with reading a version that was not the original. Seems a little creepy to change it.Sandy Nawrothttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00564390728106776030noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8481406859587493585.post-28481274543909900852011-11-10T11:26:57.251-05:002011-11-10T11:26:57.251-05:00I read Gatsby in high school and remember loving i...I read Gatsby in high school and remember loving it, despite remembering very little about the actual book. As I look to read more classics next year, I'm hoping to revisit Fitzgerald.
